"Woe to you, oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the beast with wrath,
Because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number,
Its number is Six hundred and sixty six."

.....If you followed that, you'll realise that the Devil is in fact the lovong God, whereas the god who won the propaganda war over the ages is the one who is pissed off by us.

God = The Devil and The Devil = The loving God.

How about that, then?

Re: Do you believe in the Devil?
Old Testament, Egyptian, Greek mythologies, and probably most of the others, are retelling (rebranding?) of the same stories. The oldest known version is the Sumerian mythology.

According to that, there were two major Gods on earth, brothers, Enlil and Enki. Enlil was younger but in charge, based near Iraq. He was more a political type. Enki was more scientific and creative and was in charge of the gold mines in south africa/zimbabwe area, AKA Hades, AKA the underworld, AKA the southern hemisphere.

The lesser gods, who had been working hard in the gold mines has a kind of strike. Enlil wanted them to get back to work and not defy the wishes of his father who still lived on his home planet and ruled from afar. Enki had an idea tp create a slave species to do the work for them, so got his medical expert wife, whose symbol was the two snakes entwined like a strand of DNA, to mix the gods genes with the cleverest animal they could fine, a kind of ape'like being to make them smart enough to work, but not too smart. In a famous later version of this the new slave species was called The Adam.

Enlil didn't like these new beings, thinking they shouldn't have been created in the first place. Enki had a soft spot for us, as we were his handywork. In the Sumerian flood story it was Enki who warned the original Noah (forgotten name, but starts with a Z). Enlil had hoped we'd be mostly wiped out by the coming flood, as we'd been reproducing too much ever since Enki let The Adam know that it was possible to reproduce without the help of the gods. he told them about sex, or in biblical terms, how to KNOW someone, ie all about the tree of KNOWLEDGE. At which point the grammar in the old testament changes from The Adam, to simply Adam.

Enki telling his creation about sex is the original snake and the apple story, remember Enki and his wife had snakes as a symbol.

This makes more sense than the hebrew god who one minute loves us, and the next is killing loads us off. The original was TWO Gods. One who hated us, and the other who loved us.

If you followed that, you'll realise that the Devil is in fact the lovong >God, whereas the

Well Maniac, and forgive me if I seem stupid but using your logic/definition then I would think it was FUCKING obvious why Lucifer too became know as Satan!?

Re: Do you believe in the Devil?
On a side note, To be a Satan meant to be in opposition to something.

Lawyers are each others Satan in the courts and Millwall is definitely our Satan.

Quite how the word for opposition became another name for Lucifer is another matter.

Re: Do you believe in the Devil?
As with the "God" thread...

God is the man-made construct of good.
Satan is the man-made notion of evil.

NEITHER EVER EXISTED, except in our heads (and actions).

Shame no-one can be called Lucifer anymore though. Quite dashing, I'd say? Adolf, on the other hand, was never a decent name.
